Wow. Just Realized Something Slightly Significant...

So I was browsing the Main '12 group just now, looking at the photos, and I noticed that the one I uploaded of Main at night was originally uploaded to fb on August 28. Now I'm pretty sure that I did that the day following the night I took the picture, which means August 27.

That's is the day I move back into Main.

That's also the day I first kissed a boy and liked it.

Innnnteresting.
Anyone know who? (I'm sure you do)

;D

So What?!

Ay baybays!!!

I cannot WAIT to see all of you! SEVEN DAYS! I think I'm going to cry when I see you. I'm not even kidding. I miss all of you so much it hurts!

SO this past Sunday was the 20th Annual Schiffhauer Family Picnic, which my cousin Cassie and I co-chaired. It was truly a wonderful event - a time to get together and reminisce about those we lost this year and just reconnect with each other. Pic below!
I'm towards the middle, to the left of the guy with grey/balding hair - big glasses. Love it.

I finished Breaking Dawn on the 15th, and truly loved it! Some people didn't like it at all cause of Renesmee, but I thought she was a fitting addition to the Twilight world. That said, I'm experiencing Twilight withdrawal, and so yesterday I went out and bought The Host, which is so far good, but not the same....

I've been obsessed with four songs recently that you absolutely MUST listen to now.... You'll be hearing them anyway if you come to my room in the next few weeks....

1. "So What" by Pink
2. "Pork and Beans" by Weezer
3. "Let it Rock" by Kevin Rudolf & Lil Wayne - THIS SONG IS HOTTTTT
4. "Energy" by Keri Hilson - Think Jordin Sparks' "No Air"

kay, that's all... see you soon, loves!!

Here's Irony For Ya...

I just got my new issue of EW in the mail today - it's the fall movie preview issue - and guess what was the cover story??

This is embarrassing for two reasons:
1. They couldn't change it - the issue already went to press by the time the date change was announced.

2. EW is owned by the SAME parent company as Warner Bros. (Time Warner) - so this could've been avoided if there was some communication from Time Warner to EW that the date was changing....

OMFG ROFL

THIS IS GREAT:

To Every Storm Cloud is a Silver Lining

Well, we won't be getting our Harry Potter on November 21, but at least we WILL be getting some supernatural goodness... I just got this e-mail from Summit Entertainment:

Twilight on that day?!? YAY!

This Video is THE SHIT

I LOVE IT.

Shopping at Hollister yesterday and fucking loved this song... Video's awesome:

Doubleyou. Tee. Eff.

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

If You See Me Rocking the Beach Look, This is Why

I spent almost $200 at Hollister today. Back-to-school shopping.

I'm a prep.

Deal.

What I've Been Listening To

There are four albums I've picked up in the past 2-3 weeks, and here's my mini-reviews of them, as well as a track from each that I think you need to check out:

Breakout by Miley Cyrus
Snigger all you want, but Miley's got it goin' on. I fell in love with "See You Again" when it first came out, and so I had to get her first complete album as "herself" haha. This album is pretty amazing - just a good thing to pop in your CD player in your car and listen to on the way to work (I should know). Most of it is upbeat and along the same lines as "See You Again," but when she slows it down for a few songs and succeeds, showing she's not a one-trick pony. There's also a cover of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" which is a refreshing present-day take on it.
LISTEN TO: "Bottom of the Ocean"

Cartel by Cartel
I'm not sure where exactly I first heard of them, but I knew that I liked their music, and when it was on sale for $6.99 at Best Buy, I had to pick it up. This is pretty much your standard emo rock album, along the lines of October Fall or Fall Out Boy's Take This to Your Grave.
LISTEN TO: "Wasted"

Metro Station by Metro Station
Talent definitely runs in the family, as Trace Cyrus is a band member. This album is the closest thing aurally to Panic at the Disco's first album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out since that came out in 2005. It combines the emo rock genre with the techno genre smoothly - synths rule this CD and that makes it a rather good dance album. I put it on when I feel extremely happy (which is often) or when I feel like rocking out (which is also often).
LISTEN TO: "Disco"

A Little Bit Longer by the Jonas Brothers
Yea. I'm a Disney whore. Deal. This is veryveryveryvery similar to their first self-titled release with two exceptions: the songwriting is better overall, and they branch out and actually slow it down a bit for 2 or 3 songs. A few songs actually made me laugh out loud - the audacity of the lyrics is pretty great. Deff pick it up only if you like whiny boys singing. With angst at times. ANGST.
LISTEN TO: "Video Girl"

8.09.2008

Wow. Just.... wow.

I just finished watching the opening games of the XXIX Olympiad from Beijing and my God, it was breathtaking!

I was only watching it on my 17" HDTV, but still I was very moved by the entire ceremony - it brought me close to tears several times as I realized exactly what this meant for the future of China.

At this point, I've decided I NEED to get to an Olympics before I die. If not 2012, some time soon. Seriously, the spirit of cooperation and suspension of hostilities (Putin and Bush were about 5 seats away from each other!) moved me and made me wonder why the world can't unite for things more important than sports.

Say, global warming? Poverty? AIDS?

Meanwhile, I'm sick. My tummy feels gross. =/

More on New Moon

SO although New Moon is my least-fave book in the Twilight Saga, the prospect of them making a movie based on it excites me, because it means we'll prob get to see the entire series be made into a film franchise.

I just dug up some more on the possible sequel:

"The goal is, we've got the [sequel] script ready to go and come December we want to shoot it for about the same time - for the weather and stuff we don't want to be in the heat of the winter. Obviously, you know the next book and know we can go out into the sun a little bit more. Hopefully, we'll have it ready to go and ready to start prepping for the beginning of next year."
-Twilight Producer Wyck Godfrey

It seems as if they're doing it whether or not Twilight performs well (which it will - Breaking Dawn sold almost 2 million copies in its first day alone!).

The rest of the article can be found on Shock Till You Drop.

OBSESSION

So I'm still about 100 pages into Breaking Dawn, but I'm completely OBSESSED with the Twilight universe.

First, we have this pic of the Cullen family... My God are they gorgeous!
For those of you who are Grey's fans, YES that IS Elizabeth Reaser aka Ava/Rebecca - she plays Esme Cullen!

Also, I just found this awesome little tidbit about New Moon

"A sequel [movie] based on the novel New Moon is already in pre production. If Twilight is successful enough, New Moon will be filmed in the begining of 2009 and released in December."

So in other words, we're not going to have time to notice the 2-year absence of Harry Potter from the big screen - the Twilight series might be made into a film series! Woot!

That's all for today folks. READ TWILIGHT if you haven't already!

OMG Time Does Fly

Wow. It's been awhile since I've posted..... Time flies when you're busy as shit...

But basically the reason I haven't posted recently is after VBS ended, JCP has been working me like a dog... I have 4o hours this week. w0ah.

I do have some free time still, though, and so Tuesday I FINALLY got to go out with Katie. I freaking love her. She's GORGEOUS - she's like my very own Paris Hilton! I wanna get some pics up of me with her, but I dunno if our combined hotness would break the camera... Only one way to find out....

We went to the mall (where else?). She bartends, and saved up a ton of money that apparently was burning a hole in her pocket - it was so much fun to tag along with her when we went shopping - she spend around $500!!! We went to Charlotte Russe, Aldo, Express, Guess, Bakers, Gap, and Bebe. It was fab!

We're doing a movie night tomorrow!!! XD

The really interesting/weird thing about it is we never hung out in HS... we were in totally separate HS cliques... I was the nerd and she was the really hot chick sooooo yea... (And now I sound straight)

ALSO, I just recently finished Eclipse and I LOVED IT! SOOOOO much better than New Moon... if you haven't read the series yet, I would recommend skipping it, except that it sorta does set up what happens in the 3rd and 4th books...

And Breaking Dawn is amazing so far... about 100 pages into it....

I have several potential buyers lined up for my car... I need to get pics up on the facebook listing I put up... srsly...

Speaking of Facebook... anyone LIKE the "new" fb?? It seems like it's more complicated...

I also figured out how I'm going to handle my finances this semester (which seriously have been out-of-whack - lately, if I'm feeling down or just need a boost, I go shopping. bad. decision.).

With my next paycheck (which comes Fri the 15th) I will be able to pay off the entirety of my Visa (which is really necessary since 0% APR is ending). Once that's paid off, I will no longer be using any credit cards unless they are for necessities (like things I need to purchase for back to school). I recently applied for another credit card, a Discover, which I was approved for with 0% APR till March. What I'm going to do is use the money I get from my car sale and whatever money I have left from Penney's to go towards as much of my tuition as I can (it's about $884 this semester). Whatever I can't pay off immediately is OK, I've already made arrangements with student accounts to do a biweekly payment plan with no late fees - I'll use Blegen money for the rest of it. I'll charge my books to my Discover card, and use Blegen money to pay off that; that should be done relatively soon. If it doesn't get paid off by Winter Break, the little I have left will easily be erased by JCP money again.

It should work. The only thing I need to worry about is self-control. So PLEASE if you go shopping with me or see me on a shopping website, PULL THE PLUG. I cannot afford (quite literally) to splurge on things I WANT but do not NEED.

So the rest of my summer is pretty much planned out for me. At some point in the next week, I need to help my cousin plan and execute our family picnic, which happens on the 17th - it's going to be an interesting one to say the least, as three people have passed away in our family this year - my great aunt, my great uncle, and my grandpa - and it's the 20th annual picnic....

Then, after the picnic, I have to really buckle down and work on brainstorming new ideas for Blog9, as well as coming up with a brand-spanking-new layout, in addition to moving everything over to the new domain smoothly.

On top of all that, I'll be working my butt off at JCP...

And that will pretty much take me up to August 27, my date of return to Vassar!!

Sorry about the length of the post - but I have/had a lot on my mind, and I figure this makes up for the days I haven't posted haha
20 DAYS, BITCHES!!!
muah! ♥
;D

Breaking Dawn

I did NOT go to the midnight release party last night for two reasons:

1. I was too tired from work.

2. I have not yet finished Eclipse.

Now, I am working on the 3rd one... I'm almost halfway through... Just taking longer cause VBS interrupted... That, and New Moon was really a drag. I realized Edward is what made Twilight for me... Lack of him in Book 2 was a downer.

Sooooooo yea. Going to see The Dark Knight at IMAX with a boy tomorrow!
XD

SHAMELESS PLUG

For the movie adaptation of my favorite non-series book of all time!

Last summer I was in a bit of a reading drought. I had no idea what was good (besides of course HP7) and didn't want to waste my time reading something that I wouldn't like....

Then my friend Tommy Vane recommended Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan. I didn't really fall in love with that book, but I was intrigued by the author, so I checked out some of his other books.

And that's how I stumbled upon Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. The reason I love this book is simple: it's about love and it's about life. It's about seizing your youth, if only for one night, and running with it, blindly into things that could be regarded as bad decisions in the morning, but don't matter at the moment. The reason the book is so great is because it tells the story in both Nick's and Norah's point of view through alternating chapters.

I highly recommend picking up the book - it's a very quick read! As for the movie, the trailer was just released today, and it looks as if the spirit of the book is captured very well!

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

August?! WTF?!

Hello, all!

VBS went excellently this year - it was truly the best year for me to decide to finally step down as director... and as you can see I am in fact alive!

Hopefully I'll have some pics up soon.... I'll be seeing all your lovely faces in just 26 DAYS!!!!

XD
