BTS! Again!

Yea sooo I'm back at Vassar! Wooo! Gonna be a busy week... I didn't have ne midterms before break sooo im paying for it now....

As you prob know, I went to see HSM3 on Friday! It was fantastic! The closing number was PERFECT for ending this HSM storyarch... I can't really describe in words how great it was... You'll just have to go see it!

The only real irk I had with the movie is that it seemed like every two seconds Troy and Gabriella were doing a duet....

I thought that the Kelsey/Ryan romance was cute, even if we all know that Ryan's gay. I also think that Jimmy "The Rocket" will be a great leading man for HSM4, if they decide to go that route....

Also, it looks like they left it open for Ashley Tisdale to come back to the franchise at some point - she's going to be Ms. Darbus' assistant....

I hope you have a lovely start to the second-half of the semester!!

Oh, Disney

Why must you run a good thing into the ground?

We already know that High School Musical 4 is in the works
, and though it hasn't "officially" been announced by Disney, the Disney Insider e-mail that was just sent out had a link to an interview with three new sophomore cast members...

Sophomore? I thought the film was about Senior Year. It seems Disney is keeping its options open by introducing an entire new "sub-cast" that can be tapped for HSM4.

Look at some of the HUMONGOUS hints at HSM4 that I found in the article:

"But there are some new faces among them — the debuting sophomores who just might represent the future of America's most beloved on-screen high school."

"And the new kids at East High are there to remind us that there are always new challenges to meet ... and new stories to tell."

Disney, just announce it officially - Disney Channel President Rich Ross has already confirmed the script's being written - and doom the High School Musical franchise to go the way of Pirates: highly profitable, but also just plain bad.

I Finished Reading Othello and Twelfth Night!!

Yea. That's pretty much ALL I did today - so my homework for one class is done! Yay! Three more classes to go!

I also picked up the HSM3 soundtrack today, and my God, if the music is any indicator, this movie is gonna be GREAT. And hugely popular - but maybe that's a foregone conclusion. Comingsoon.net is projecting it could have one of biggest opening weekends in October ever, taking in almost $50 million! Friday night!! XD

Oh, and back to Shakespeare - I was in the midst of reading Twelfth Night when my mom walked by... I said, "Mom this play is really funny!" And she was like "What, Othello?" I was like "No. That's a tragedy." She said "Oh, well how am I supposed to know?" haha!

That was deff funnier in real life than it is in print.... hmmmm....

Happy Tuesday!!
;D

Good News!

So you may or may not know that my TV broke last week. Yeah. Sucks. Big time. Wouldn't even turn on. Had it since August 07.

I took it to Circuit City today. I didn't have my receipt, and when I called to find out if they did repairs, they said they did but they'd have to ship it out to the manufacturer and that it would cost at least $40. I wasn't optimistic going in.

I explained my prob to the guy I brought it in to, and he was very nice about it. He asked for my phone number - that's how they track purchases (I paid cash) - and found out I hadn't taken out a service plan on it. He took it in the back to make sure that nothing physical was causing the malfunction.

After a few minutes, he came out of the back and told me that it was probably a defective TV and that it would be cheaper for me to buy a new one. I was about to protest when he said that he could give me a FULL REFUND for what I originally paid for the TV towards a comparable NEW one, but only if I picked one out right away.

That was a no-brainer for me. I got a $300 TV for $30 today!! Yay! I also bought a 3-year service plan for $60, so that'll cover me till I leave Vassar.

I thought that this was awesome for a company to do - I didn't have my receipt or anything, and didn't even ask for or expect a full refund! I also doubt my fave electronics store, Best Buy, would do the same. They told me they don't even repair TVs under 25 inches.

I GOT 'EM, BITCHES! OPENING NIGHT!!

Forks and Bigotry

So yesterday after work, I went over to my cousins' house for dinner... fish sticks and french fries mmmmhmmmmm...

Anyway, when I sat down to watch a movie, I got poked in my butt with a fork that had been lying on the seat. I called over to my three-year-old cousin, Jake - "Hey Jake, look, a fork was in my butt!" We both laughed hysterically.

A few minutes later, Jake picked up the fork, and charged at me with it, yelling "FORK IN YOUR BUTT!!" My three-year-old cousin tried to fork me. LMAO. Boys will be boys.

Earlier that day, at work, I was assigned to the Young Men's quad. Just behind it is men's shoes. This woman walked up to the quad, where me and Ereika, a twenty-something, were standing, and asked if we could help her find a shoe. We said we didn't work in that dept and referred her to the associate who was. She said, "Nonono - I want YOU because you're young - you know what's trendy, what's on the cutting edge."

I was like oooooook.... Her husband, who she was shopping for, is 53. I'm 18.

She wanted a slip-on shoe for her husband. I really don't like the moccasin look, so I showed her one that was slightly less casual, but definitely not dressy. She wanted something "fresh."

So she looked it over, looked right at me and goes "Look at all this stitching, though.... Don't you think it's a little too gay?"

A few things:

1. There was NOT a lot of stitching on the shoes.
2. In any case, how the FUCK does excessive STITCHING make something look GAY?
3. She went on to say the same thing about various shoes about 3 more times.
4. It almost got to the point where I wanted to say, "Ma'am, I'd love to help you find a nice pair of shoes for your husband, but quite frankly, I think I'm a little TOO GAY to do that."

Sooo... first day back. Eventful, no?

10.17.2008

Daymn. Long Time....

Like two months since I've posted on here....

Anywayyyyy

With the death of Blog9, I've decided to resume blogging here for the future... content won't be that different; it might be of a more personal nature, as I don't feel I have to jump through hoops to make posts anymore... It should also be more casual.

I've resumed writing my book. Yea, my book! I started writing it in August of 07 but I quickly lost interest, but I started writing the second chapter tonight and I'm not sure exactly where it's going, but that's what makes it exciting - it's an adventure!!

Leave some love - I already miss you Vassar people! I was practically crying on the way back... I've been really emotional today....

Back to work tomorrow! Yay! =P

8.22.2008

Wow. Just Realized Something Slightly Significant...

So I was browsing the Main '12 group just now, looking at the photos, and I noticed that the one I uploaded of Main at night was originally uploaded to fb on August 28. Now I'm pretty sure that I did that the day following the night I took the picture, which means August 27.

That's is the day I move back into Main.

That's also the day I first kissed a boy and liked it.

Innnnteresting.
Anyone know who? (I'm sure you do)

;D

8.20.2008

So What?!

Ay baybays!!!

I cannot WAIT to see all of you! SEVEN DAYS! I think I'm going to cry when I see you. I'm not even kidding. I miss all of you so much it hurts!

SO this past Sunday was the 20th Annual Schiffhauer Family Picnic, which my cousin Cassie and I co-chaired. It was truly a wonderful event - a time to get together and reminisce about those we lost this year and just reconnect with each other. Pic below!
I'm towards the middle, to the left of the guy with grey/balding hair - big glasses. Love it.

I finished Breaking Dawn on the 15th, and truly loved it! Some people didn't like it at all cause of Renesmee, but I thought she was a fitting addition to the Twilight world. That said, I'm experiencing Twilight withdrawal, and so yesterday I went out and bought The Host, which is so far good, but not the same....

I've been obsessed with four songs recently that you absolutely MUST listen to now.... You'll be hearing them anyway if you come to my room in the next few weeks....

1. "So What" by Pink
2. "Pork and Beans" by Weezer
3. "Let it Rock" by Kevin Rudolf & Lil Wayne - THIS SONG IS HOTTTTT
4. "Energy" by Keri Hilson - Think Jordin Sparks' "No Air"

kay, that's all... see you soon, loves!!

8.16.2008

Here's Irony For Ya...

I just got my new issue of EW in the mail today - it's the fall movie preview issue - and guess what was the cover story??

This is embarrassing for two reasons:
1. They couldn't change it - the issue already went to press by the time the date change was announced.

2. EW is owned by the SAME parent company as Warner Bros. (Time Warner) - so this could've been avoided if there was some communication from Time Warner to EW that the date was changing....

8.15.2008

OMFG ROFL

THIS IS GREAT:

To Every Storm Cloud is a Silver Lining

Well, we won't be getting our Harry Potter on November 21, but at least we WILL be getting some supernatural goodness... I just got this e-mail from Summit Entertainment:

Twilight on that day?!? YAY!

This Video is THE SHIT

I LOVE IT.

Shopping at Hollister yesterday and fucking loved this song... Video's awesome:

8.14.2008

Doubleyou. Tee. Eff.

THEY PUSHED BACK HARRY POTTER TILL JULY 17, 2009?!?!?!

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

If You See Me Rocking the Beach Look, This is Why

I spent almost $200 at Hollister today. Back-to-school shopping.

I'm a prep.

Deal.

What I've Been Listening To

There are four albums I've picked up in the past 2-3 weeks, and here's my mini-reviews of them, as well as a track from each that I think you need to check out:

Breakout by Miley Cyrus
Snigger all you want, but Miley's got it goin' on. I fell in love with "See You Again" when it first came out, and so I had to get her first complete album as "herself" haha. This album is pretty amazing - just a good thing to pop in your CD player in your car and listen to on the way to work (I should know). Most of it is upbeat and along the same lines as "See You Again," but when she slows it down for a few songs and succeeds, showing she's not a one-trick pony. There's also a cover of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" which is a refreshing present-day take on it.
LISTEN TO: "Bottom of the Ocean"

Cartel by Cartel
I'm not sure where exactly I first heard of them, but I knew that I liked their music, and when it was on sale for $6.99 at Best Buy, I had to pick it up. This is pretty much your standard emo rock album, along the lines of October Fall or Fall Out Boy's Take This to Your Grave.
LISTEN TO: "Wasted"

Metro Station by Metro Station
Talent definitely runs in the family, as Trace Cyrus is a band member. This album is the closest thing aurally to Panic at the Disco's first album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out since that came out in 2005. It combines the emo rock genre with the techno genre smoothly - synths rule this CD and that makes it a rather good dance album. I put it on when I feel extremely happy (which is often) or when I feel like rocking out (which is also often).
LISTEN TO: "Disco"

A Little Bit Longer by the Jonas Brothers
Yea. I'm a Disney whore. Deal. This is veryveryveryvery similar to their first self-titled release with two exceptions: the songwriting is better overall, and they branch out and actually slow it down a bit for 2 or 3 songs. A few songs actually made me laugh out loud - the audacity of the lyrics is pretty great. Deff pick it up only if you like whiny boys singing. With angst at times. ANGST.
LISTEN TO: "Video Girl"

8.09.2008

Wow. Just.... wow.

I just finished watching the opening games of the XXIX Olympiad from Beijing and my God, it was breathtaking!

I was only watching it on my 17" HDTV, but still I was very moved by the entire ceremony - it brought me close to tears several times as I realized exactly what this meant for the future of China.

At this point, I've decided I NEED to get to an Olympics before I die. If not 2012, some time soon. Seriously, the spirit of cooperation and suspension of hostilities (Putin and Bush were about 5 seats away from each other!) moved me and made me wonder why the world can't unite for things more important than sports.

Say, global warming? Poverty? AIDS?

Meanwhile, I'm sick. My tummy feels gross. =/

More on New Moon

SO although New Moon is my least-fave book in the Twilight Saga, the prospect of them making a movie based on it excites me, because it means we'll prob get to see the entire series be made into a film franchise.

I just dug up some more on the possible sequel:

"The goal is, we've got the [sequel] script ready to go and come December we want to shoot it for about the same time - for the weather and stuff we don't want to be in the heat of the winter. Obviously, you know the next book and know we can go out into the sun a little bit more. Hopefully, we'll have it ready to go and ready to start prepping for the beginning of next year."
-Twilight Producer Wyck Godfrey

It seems as if they're doing it whether or not Twilight performs well (which it will - Breaking Dawn sold almost 2 million copies in its first day alone!).

The rest of the article can be found on Shock Till You Drop.

OBSESSION

So I'm still about 100 pages into Breaking Dawn, but I'm completely OBSESSED with the Twilight universe.

First, we have this pic of the Cullen family... My God are they gorgeous!
For those of you who are Grey's fans, YES that IS Elizabeth Reaser aka Ava/Rebecca - she plays Esme Cullen!

Also, I just found this awesome little tidbit about New Moon

"A sequel [movie] based on the novel New Moon is already in pre production. If Twilight is successful enough, New Moon will be filmed in the begining of 2009 and released in December."

So in other words, we're not going to have time to notice the 2-year absence of Harry Potter from the big screen - the Twilight series might be made into a film series! Woot!

That's all for today folks. READ TWILIGHT if you haven't already!

OMG Time Does Fly

Wow. It's been awhile since I've posted..... Time flies when you're busy as shit...

But basically the reason I haven't posted recently is after VBS ended, JCP has been working me like a dog... I have 4o hours this week. w0ah.

I do have some free time still, though, and so Tuesday I FINALLY got to go out with Katie. I freaking love her. She's GORGEOUS - she's like my very own Paris Hilton! I wanna get some pics up of me with her, but I dunno if our combined hotness would break the camera... Only one way to find out....

We went to the mall (where else?). She bartends, and saved up a ton of money that apparently was burning a hole in her pocket - it was so much fun to tag along with her when we went shopping - she spend around $500!!! We went to Charlotte Russe, Aldo, Express, Guess, Bakers, Gap, and Bebe. It was fab!

We're doing a movie night tomorrow!!! XD

The really interesting/weird thing about it is we never hung out in HS... we were in totally separate HS cliques... I was the nerd and she was the really hot chick sooooo yea... (And now I sound straight)

ALSO, I just recently finished Eclipse and I LOVED IT! SOOOOO much better than New Moon... if you haven't read the series yet, I would recommend skipping it, except that it sorta does set up what happens in the 3rd and 4th books...

And Breaking Dawn is amazing so far... about 100 pages into it....

I have several potential buyers lined up for my car... I need to get pics up on the facebook listing I put up... srsly...

Speaking of Facebook... anyone LIKE the "new" fb?? It seems like it's more complicated...

I also figured out how I'm going to handle my finances this semester (which seriously have been out-of-whack - lately, if I'm feeling down or just need a boost, I go shopping. bad. decision.).

With my next paycheck (which comes Fri the 15th) I will be able to pay off the entirety of my Visa (which is really necessary since 0% APR is ending). Once that's paid off, I will no longer be using any credit cards unless they are for necessities (like things I need to purchase for back to school). I recently applied for another credit card, a Discover, which I was approved for with 0% APR till March. What I'm going to do is use the money I get from my car sale and whatever money I have left from Penney's to go towards as much of my tuition as I can (it's about $884 this semester). Whatever I can't pay off immediately is OK, I've already made arrangements with student accounts to do a biweekly payment plan with no late fees - I'll use Blegen money for the rest of it. I'll charge my books to my Discover card, and use Blegen money to pay off that; that should be done relatively soon. If it doesn't get paid off by Winter Break, the little I have left will easily be erased by JCP money again.

It should work. The only thing I need to worry about is self-control. So PLEASE if you go shopping with me or see me on a shopping website, PULL THE PLUG. I cannot afford (quite literally) to splurge on things I WANT but do not NEED.

So the rest of my summer is pretty much planned out for me. At some point in the next week, I need to help my cousin plan and execute our family picnic, which happens on the 17th - it's going to be an interesting one to say the least, as three people have passed away in our family this year - my great aunt, my great uncle, and my grandpa - and it's the 20th annual picnic....

Then, after the picnic, I have to really buckle down and work on brainstorming new ideas for Blog9, as well as coming up with a brand-spanking-new layout, in addition to moving everything over to the new domain smoothly.

On top of all that, I'll be working my butt off at JCP...

And that will pretty much take me up to August 27, my date of return to Vassar!!

Sorry about the length of the post - but I have/had a lot on my mind, and I figure this makes up for the days I haven't posted haha
20 DAYS, BITCHES!!!
muah! ♥
;D

8.03.2008

Breaking Dawn

I did NOT go to the midnight release party last night for two reasons:

1. I was too tired from work.

2. I have not yet finished Eclipse.

Now, I am working on the 3rd one... I'm almost halfway through... Just taking longer cause VBS interrupted... That, and New Moon was really a drag. I realized Edward is what made Twilight for me... Lack of him in Book 2 was a downer.

Sooooooo yea. Going to see The Dark Knight at IMAX with a boy tomorrow!
XD

SHAMELESS PLUG

For the movie adaptation of my favorite non-series book of all time!

Last summer I was in a bit of a reading drought. I had no idea what was good (besides of course HP7) and didn't want to waste my time reading something that I wouldn't like....

Then my friend Tommy Vane recommended Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan. I didn't really fall in love with that book, but I was intrigued by the author, so I checked out some of his other books.

And that's how I stumbled upon Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. The reason I love this book is simple: it's about love and it's about life. It's about seizing your youth, if only for one night, and running with it, blindly into things that could be regarded as bad decisions in the morning, but don't matter at the moment. The reason the book is so great is because it tells the story in both Nick's and Norah's point of view through alternating chapters.

I highly recommend picking up the book - it's a very quick read! As for the movie, the trailer was just released today, and it looks as if the spirit of the book is captured very well!

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

August?! WTF?!

Hello, all!

VBS went excellently this year - it was truly the best year for me to decide to finally step down as director... and as you can see I am in fact alive!

Hopefully I'll have some pics up soon.... I'll be seeing all your lovely faces in just 26 DAYS!!!!

XD

Meryl Streep!

As I'm sure you read, Mads has just posted a YouTube vid they found, in which Meryl Streep talks briefly of her days at Vassar.

I'd never known when she'd graduated, so when she said 2 years it was all female, 2 years coed, I found that very interesting... She probably has a really good perspective on what the shift was like.

Incidentally, she was on the Late Show to promote her new movie, Mamma Mia! which opened to lukewarm reviews... In fact, my latest issue of "Entertainment Weekly" downright slams it:

"Most of the film's numbers consist of Meryl Streep, her two fellow feisty broads (Christine Baranski and Julie Walters), and a handful of other actors who can sort of sing cavorting on beaches with happy amateur glee, as if it were the first day of rehearsal and the director, Phyllida Lloyd, had tried to tune everyone into the ecstasies of ABBA by declaring: Let yourself go!"

The film got a C+ overall. Ouch.

7.21.2008

Fall is Almost Upon Us....

37 days till I go back to Vassar! WOOT!

Anyway, the major TV networks have begun posting their fall schedules! The fall premieres I'll be watching are:

Grey's Anatomy - Sept. 25
Desperate Housewives - Sept. 28
Brothers & Sisters - Sept. 28
Pushing Daisies - Oct. 1
Private Practice - Oct. 1
Gossip Girl - Sept. 1
90210 - Sept. 2
Heroes - Sept. 22

OH, and DENNY IS BACK FOR SEASON 5 OF GREY'S!!!! I hope it's not one of those weird twisty episodes... It prbly will be....

Oh, and NEW HEROES PREVIEW!!! It looks fab! Check out Claire's brown hair!

7.20.2008

GO. NOW.

He is the reason this movie is great. He is the reason people are going to see this movie. He is the reason that this movie broke the record for biggest opening weekend in history - $155.34 million. GO. NOW.

7.19.2008

BUSY TOMORROW

Seriously....

I'm gonna be waking up at 7:00 to hit the end of the 7:30 a.m. mass, and I'll be doing all the masses tomorrow morning for VBS registration. We have 36 kids registered, hoping to hit at least 50 by the end of masses.

THEN I go to work at 2:00, there till 7:30.

And I just pre-ordered my tickets to see The Dark Knight at the cinema in the mall at 8:00. So I'm gonna be busybusybusybusy tomorrow!

I finished Twilight last night, btw.... If you haven't read it, you MUST! The whole concept sounds ludicrous and a bit silly (vampires and humans falling in love.... and vampires that try not to drink human blood, no less....), but it is truly a masterpiece! I've already started New Moon - hopefully I'll be able to finish it and Eclipse in time for the midnight release of Breaking Dawn!!

that's all! MUAH!

7.18.2008

I Dare You Not to Fall in Love

With the Twilight Saga.

SOOOOO remember how I said I might be done with Twilight by the end of next week? Yea... uhmmmm.... I'm 100 pages from being done with it so that's prbly gonna happen tomorrow.

So in anticipation for that, I just went out and picked up New Moon and Eclipse for $13.99 apiece at Target. YAY!

OH, and I stopped at Borders and reserved Breaking Dawn. I don't think I'll be going to the midnight release party, as I know absolutely no one who reads the books around here, but we'll see.... MARGARET you should come visit me that weekend!!!!

So yea. That's about it. I'm in love with Edward Cullen. I think this is the first time I've ever been in love with a fictional character, but I am in love with him. To quote that one girl from Ten Things I Hate About You, "We're INVOLVED." haha

peace.

7.17.2008

BUSY AS....

Hell. Fuck. A bee. You get the picture.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile... VBS and work are really bearing down...

The registration situation no longer seems as dire as it once did... We're up to 28 registrants now, and after I made a few phone calls, that will undoubtedly reach 30 by tomorrow... I hope and pray the weekend brings a lot of last-minute registrants in....

Secondly, I missed the ProRun premiere tonight, partially because I was working and partially because I don't have premium TV here... SO I am anxiously awaiting someone to upload it. It's coming. Just a waiting game. grrrrr

Thirdly, I've decided how I'm going to confront my laptop woes: with a desktop. Macs are just too much freakin' money. I can get a juiced up desktop with great RAM, an awesome processor, a souped-up graphics card and a 19" LCD monitor for a little over half what I would pay for a MacBook with a 15" screen and none of those things. haha. It's a no-brainer: I'll keep my laptop for trips to the library, but otherwise use my desktop for things... like gaming... muahahah.

I LOVE "Command & Conquer" and Red Alert 3 is coming... Red Alert is my fave C&C series... AND if I get that comp soon, I can play C&C 3: Tiberium Wars while I wait...

Fourthly, I created a Second Life account yesterday because I wanted to see what all the hoopla is about, as well as Vassar Island. It's pretty cool. My avatar does not have genitals. I am confused as to how it can have sex. Oh, my name's Silas Twine. I think that's badass.

Fifthly, I just picked up Twilight on Monday and I am HOOKED. I'm like up to page 200 already. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm done by the end of next week.....

Sixthly, I miss you all and cannot wait to see you again!
muah!

7.14.2008

Uneasiness

OOOOooo no. Ohdearohdearohdear.

This is the last week for VBS registration, and we only have 25 kids registered so far. Our limit is 70. That's what we're buying for.

Last year we got 54.

I see no scenario in which we can possibly get 20 more kids over the weekend. It would probably take a miracle. Or faith.

I should just leave it all in God's hands... things usually have a way of working themselves out... But to go through all this planning and effort for less than 50 kids? If our final attendance is lower than that, we may have to reconsider our efforts for next year... Ohhhh my... we have a budget that's growing closer to $2000 every day.... for 25 kids? That's like $80 a kid.

This is NOT GOOD.

I just made phone calls tonight to the parents of about 20 kids who participated last year but had not yet registered for this year. I got one additional registration. I left messages on the rest of them. Oh. my.

7.12.2008

Life 2.0

SOOOOO after yesterday's awful iTunes server shutdowns, which prevented moi from upgrading my iPod touch to version 2.0 software, early this morning the update finally went back up and I was able to download it! YAY!

For those who aren't in the know, this basically updates my iPod to have iPhone 3G-like abilities, minus obviously the 3G, the phone, and the GPS.

Let me just note it took OVER AN HOUR to update it, as not only did it have to download the new software, it had to backup everything on my iPod, COMPLETELY wipe it, install the new 2.0 software, and then restore everything from the backup file.

The biggest addition to the iPod is the new App Store. You know those buttons on the iPhone/iPod touch screens? Now, Apple is allowing 3rd parties to create their own applications for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Of the apps I've downloaded so far, the ones I've found most useful and cool are: AIM, Remote (which lets me control my iTunes library using my iPod as a remote), WeatherBug (which is infinitely more useful than the Apple Weather app - it has built-in radar!), and AOL Radio - finally radio on iPod!

Of course, all these things require a WiFi hotspot....

One minor thing that I do not like about the new upgrade is the new calculator look... it used to be very refined, with circular buttons that glowed with a burst of light when you pressed them. The new one has square buttons that don't do anything special when you press them. Ugh. However, when you turn it sideways, it now converts to a scientific calculator, so I guess that's a plus....

kthat's all for now! muah!

7.10.2008

HAWWWTTTT

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly, out tomorrow:

DAYMN I need to get mah hands on these books! Just about 200 pages left in Eldest......

Hannah MANtana

Well, at least I thought the post title was clever.....

Anyway, today they took down the No Bad Days tees display... I was all like oooo what are they putting in? Long sleeves, finally? (customers have been asking for those for AGES, believe it or not...)

But no.

A HANNAH MONTANA display of blankets and comforters! In the middle of the men's dept.! Granted, we are near the home dept., where they would usually sell that sorta stuff, but still... it's PGA Tour golf shirts on the left, Dockers shorts on the right and BAM Hannah Montana bedding smack in the middle... Wow....

While I'm on the subject of all things DISNEY... It has just been announced that the High School Musical 3: Senior Year trailer will debut this Monday, July 14!!! EEEEE!!! I'm SOOO EXCITED!!!

That is all.
muah! ♥

In One Month

It'll be 08/08/08!! Does anything special happen on this day? Like, last year 07/07/07 was big cuz it was all like LUCKY SEVENS WOOOO... and then the year before it was like BURN IN THE FIRES OF HELLLLL becuz it was 06/06/06.... HMMMMMM

ANNNYWAY i've been hanging tight at JCP.

Yesterday I went over to my cousin Colby's house to lend him my Nintendo Wi-Fi Connector... Now we can play Super Smash Bros Brawl over the internet, and it's just like if he was right there! Apparently when you have a direct connection to a friend, it's normal speed... Usually when I play with random ppl online it's mad slow.....

SO bad news today - as reported by ComingSoon.net, the HP6 trailer WILL NOT be in front of The Dark Knight as was widely speculated.... Bets are now for either The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor or Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The former comes out August 1, the latter August 15.... DAYMN they're waiting a long time!!

ugh....
Going to go pick up our VBS t-shirts now! Yay! Cya!

OMG GREY'S NEWS

So I know at least ONE of you will appreciate this... coughCLAUcough

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, there was a small snippet regarding the upcoming fifth season of Grey's Anatomy:

"Seattle Grace is adding another hot M.D. to its rotation: an ex-Iraq-war doc who may or may not jump-start Cristina's ailing heart. And here's a hint about the actor currently circling the role: He comes with his own built-in McMoniker."

Hmmm... his own built-in McMoniker?? Meaning like his name already starts with Mc?? Like James McAvoy??? That's the only one I can think of right now....

Ok..... Just did some digging and found KEVIN McKIDD is in talks to take on the role:

Apparently he was in the now-dead Journeyman last season... He's not a bad looker... and Scottish.... Euros are always cute!!

I Am WAYYYY Overtired

I think this is laugh-your-ass-off funny right now... Plz prove me wrong hahaha

Another 4th Gone

I worked 2 to 8:30 today! JCP was open company-wide till 8! The mall closed at 5! WTF?!

Anyway, afterwards I went to my aunt's house and blew off some fireworks, and watched the town fireworks which were fab.

Butttt as most of my friends from Vassar found out, the fireworks reminded me of founder's day which reminded me of college which reminded me of you. And the vast amount of distance that separates us all. *sigh*

I've recently come to the conclusion that I need a cuddle buddy. Screw sex. Cuddling is the new sex for me. I need to feel wanted.

Also, I went on a mini shopping spree (read: $40) yesterday at AE and Hollister and picked up a pair of AE jeans - WAIST 32!!! EEE!!!! And a beautiful sapphire blue tee from Hollister - pics on my fb prof. I LOVE THEM.

The best thing about Hollister is that I can go there and pick out a medium without trying it on cuz I know it'll fit me perfectly!

that's all for now! muah!

7.03.2008

Yay For Credit Card Debt!!

It's official! I've signed up FIFTY people for a JCP Charge since I went back to work in May!

That means I get this nifty little bronze award pin! YAY!

In other news, I'll probably have my credit card all paid off soon! YAY!

Then I can finally start saving for my MacBook! YAY!
XD

HALF-BLOOD PRINCE

It seems as if the publicity machine for the 6th movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is FINALLY beginning to ramp up! Due to debut on the 21st of November, this is the latest we've ever gone without even a trailer... it'll be out in just under 5 months!

But fear not! USA Today just posted a short but sweet preview of the film here, and EMPIRE's latest issue features a bloody (literally) Harry on the cover:

From just this, we can safely assume that Dan Radcliffe will be giving Rupert Grint a run for his money over who's the hottest boy wizard. ;)

Ohohoh, and one more thing, as if I haven't been anticipating The Dark Knight enough, rumor has it that the trailer for HP6 will be released just in front of it! EEEEE!

Oh, and they BETTER NOT FUCK IT UP. It's my fave book in the series, you see.
muah!

My Life (or, Work)

Yeaaaa so i just discovered that I'll be working 40+ hours this week! Yay for overtime!

I don't think my managers will be too happy about that... hmmmm....

So yesterday was Canada Day, marking Canada's 141st birthday! The reason I know this is that Canadians swamped the mall yesterday, and I got SIX charge applications, all from - you guessed it - Canadians!

HOLY SHIT IT'S JULY ALREADY

Finally, I should note that in the coming weeks my updates will become more sporadic, as plans for VBS are ramping up nicely. However, after VBS I should be posting at least once a day again!

LOVE YOU!
muah!

I Cringed

When I watched this....

It's about terrorism... Skip ahead to the 58 second mark, and you'll see what I mean....

6.30.2008

The List

1. I hope you all had a LOVELY weekend!

2. No, I did not go see Wanted yesterday, I was too tired.

3. I worked a 7-hr shift today instead of what was supposed to be a 4-hr shift, and I only got 6 hrs of sleep so I'm tired as hell.

4. VBS plans are moving along smoothly - we already have 3 registrants!

5. I don't really have anything exciting for you today, so

6. Go check out the trailer for the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, here.

6.28.2008

Run, Don't Walk

To see WALLE!!!

It was a veryveryveryveryverygoodgreatstupendoussupercalifragilisticfantabulousfantastical movie!

Pretty much all that Disney/Pixar magic we've come to know and love but with the added bonus of having to figure out the plot ourselves! For you see, this is, for all intents and purposes, a new-age silent film! For the first 30 mins there is no dialogue at all!

That and the graphics are ridiculously good, and the story is amazingly heartwarming!

So go see it! Now!

Now tomorrow, we'll see if I can squeeze in that other film....

6.27.2008

Defying Gravity

That's how I feel right now after seeing Wicked for the first time ever!

After the first 1/2 of the show I came to the conclusion that I should NOT have read the book before going to see it... it kinda ruined it because they made a lot of changes to the plot for the show. Overall, though, it was an excellent, awe-inspiring performance!

TOMORROW NIGHT I GO TO SEE MY MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE OF THE SUMMER!! XD

w0ah

Anyone see the brand-spanking-new teaser poster for Saw V??

6.26.2008

Where I'll Be in Less Than 24 Hours...

Trendy...

So after I calmed down from watching Titanic yesterday (see two posts down), I realized a truth about my recent movie-viewing habits: I've been watching quite a bit of DiCaprio, and a LOT of Matt Damon.

Let's look at the list:

Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, and Ocean's Thirteen all have Matt Damon in them.
Titanic has Leo DiCaprio in it.
The Departed has both DiCaprio and Damon in it.

Also, Corpse Bride and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix both star Helena Bonham Carter...

Anyway, it's time for a change... Next I'll most likely be watching The History Boys, which has no big-name Hollywood actors in it whatsoever...

Oh... Wait... Richard Griffiths and Frances de la Tour... Both Harry Potter actors... shit... nvm...

6.25.2008

What I'm Listening To

Anyone ever hear of the 1990s? No, not the decade, THE BAND. They're fab; just got their album - it's UHMAZING.

Just Finished Watching Titanic For the First Time

They say a picture's worth 1000 words:

Lying in Bed

Usually around this time of night is when I get a bit wistful of my days (and crazy nights) at Vassar.

I honestly cannot express to you (obv if you're reading this right now you must be one hellofa friend) how grateful I am that I am 1) attending Vassar and 2) honored to be called your friend.

That and quite frankly I need someone to cuddle with.

6.22.2008

Mind Explosion

So summer is going along smoothly.

Workingworkingworking all the time at JCP.

And all of a sudden it's only 33 days till VBS! GASP!
For those of you who don't know that acronym, VBS stands for Vacation Bible School, which I direct (and founded) at my church. This is my fourth year and last directing, and the theme is Power Lab! It's gonna be the shit! I LOVE science!

I'll wait while you laugh your ass off. k?k!

SOOOO yea that's alotta work, it's July 25 to 30... Coming up quick

And then RIGHT AFTER THAT I'm co-chairing my family picnic on August 17. FUN! So mah summer is gonna FLY by. And so my mind is melting as we speak.

And on top of ALL that I'm already getting excited/having ideas for the new Blog9 layout. OH EHM GEE. Does anyone know of an off switch up there?

=P

6.20.2008

HAWWWTTTT

OH EM GEE PROBABLY THE BEST MASHUP I'VE EVER SEEN:

It thrives on the beat of "Piece of Me"... Featuring Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Missy Elliott, Flo Rida, T-Pain, Ashlee Simpson, and Ciara.

A Plan

Soooo after work yesterday, when my father picked me up from work I asked him if he could subsidize the cost of a Mac.

He laughed uproariously.

However, he did suggest that I sell my car which has been sitting idle in the driveway since January. That'll net me about $1000. I should be able to earn the rest through working the rest of summer. And since I'll be leaving my current laptop at home upon receipt of my new MacBook, he said he'd be able to put up $400 (what we paid for it lol).

So there's the plan. Check with me in August and I'll tell you (hopefully SHOW you) how it worked out.

I HAVE TOMORROW OFF.

FREAKKKKINGNNGG EXCITED!!!!!
XD

gnite. muah!

6.18.2008

Good Times

For Penney's, at least!

Yesterday, I went to my first ever Town Hall meeting at JCP, which is basically this open forum where associates get to bring their concerns, thoughts, and questions about the store and the company as a whole to their district manager.

It was at this meeting that I found out that though we are in the midst of an economic recession, my store (Walden Galleria Mall) was NUMBER ONE in the COMPANY for sales in the month of May! No doubt sales were bolstered by our wonderful Canadian customers (the Canadian dollar is hot right now. So hot that some Canadians are pissed off when they find out we don't accept their money.)

So I just went to Apple.com to check out my prospects for mah very own Mac (I cannot stand this laptop.. it works, but only barely). So I picked out the black MacBook, starting price $1399... added on a bunch of sweet things, like a remote, Final Cut Express, Aperture 2, and iWork, in addition to a 32GB iPod touch (which I will get for $299 after rebate - the same price I paid for my 8GB!) and the grand total came to $2500+!!

Yea. Soooooo we'll see what happens. I'm trying to get my credit card all paid off right now... $2500 is $1500 over my current credit limit hahhhaha

In fact, all the MacBooks are above my current credit limit... hmmmm.....

Anyway, that's all I have for you this Wednesday (WHAT?! ALREADY?!) June 18. I'm Nick D., and you've just been filled in!

;D

6.16.2008

Time Goes By... So QUICKLY

Madonna is SO WRONG.
AS OF TOMORROW, June 17, I will have been home one month already!

That means that my summer is one-third over! GASP!

Today I worked 10 to 6 which sounds awful, and was admittedly pretty much torture at the beginning of my shift when I was barely awake, but really went by very quickly because I had to straighten, size, and crisp an ENTIRE PAD. If you don't know what a pad is, run to your nearest JCPenney, and look at where the aisles meet with the rug. The rug space encased by the aisles is called a pad.

Yea. Started the sizing at noon, got done at 5:50. FUN! Went by way fast. Reason I had to do this was because today, the number 2 in the COMPANY came by and did a walkthrough, and tomorrow our district manager is coming by to do a walkthrough! Yay for bigwigs!

Also, a big black box recently showed up in my mall... Come to find out it's for a RUEHL store! If you don't know what that is, go to www.ruehl.com... It's basically an Abercrombie & Fitch for post-college people.... (it's owned by A&F) I looked up info on the chain, cuz I never heard of it before, and apparently there are only 250 stores in the whole country, and they only pop up in "upscale" shopping destinations. My mall is upscale now! Yay!

After work today, I went to Parable Players (or as I like to refer to it, Parable Playazzzz) to visit my sexy friends! I miss them sooo much! We're chillin on Sunday! Yay!

I think the word of the day is Yay!
Keep it real, homeskillets.
Muah!

6.15.2008

MOST ANTICIPATED

Sooooo today was good... much better than yesterday at work which was possibly busier than any Black Friday I've worked....

ANYWAY, next week Friday (the 27th) marks the release of the two movies I am most anxious to see this summer! (besides The Dark Knight of course) They are:

Wall-E:

and
Wanted:

6.14.2008

WHAT? No MORE?!

GIMME GIMME MORE!

According to Jive Records, Britney Spears' record label, "Radar" has been scrapped as her next single as of June 11, and there will be no more singles from Blackout.

This lends a good amount of credence to the rumors that her next album will be out before Christmas this year... I can only hope!

Rest in Peace

Tim Russert, Buffalo native and host of Meet the Press, in addition to best-selling author and Emmy-winner, passed away yesterday of a massive heart attack. He was 58. The reason I post this (though I'm sure you've all already heard it) is just because he was a true Buffalonian-he remained loyal to the city and its people no matter where he was, and often ended his newscasts during football season with "Go Bills!"

He will be deeply missed by the WNY community.

6.13.2008

Redux

1. My abs hurt from Wii Fit - up to 40 jackknifes!!! (jackknives?)

2. Today I spent doing VBS (Vacation Bible School) prep... Supply drive, registration, press releases, etc. BIG deal lyke w0ah.

3. I then went to work for four hours. Went by soooo fast.

4. Watched an ep of Lost the one where it's revealed Mr. Locke was a paraplegic. SOO good! I'm addicted now.

5. Went hair shopping. Decided I'm gonna keep it around the same length, but a bit shorter, and add in some subtle highlights with more texture. Yay!

keep it real, betches.
;D

6.12.2008

Forever

I regret that this song wasn't made last year... seems to me to be a PERFECT prom song.

I usually hate Chris Brown songs... (Run It? No Air? Ugh.) But to quote the legendary Kylie Minogue, I just can't get him outta my head right now. Or at least this song. DAYMN.

6.11.2008

RIDE ON THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS!

I got a Magic School Bus DVD in the mail today for mah little sister (or at least that's what my excuse is...) and I popped it in. INSTANT EUPHORIA. All these memories of simpler days came rushing back as the familiar theme song played.

WITH THE FRIZ? NO WAY!
XD

6.10.2008

Not a Bad Day, After All

Today wasn't as much of a bust as I thought it would be...

After posting the post below, Rich started IMming me, we discovered we were mutually bored and he wanted to go shopping so I accompanied him to the mall.

Dramz is happening w/his girl right now... I wish him luck =/

Then I got home, ate dinner, watched another ep of Lost (which I am not quite addicted to yet...), and now I'm about to go do some Wii Fit.

So yeah. Not a bad day at all.

IRONY!

So I've been waiting FOREVER to have some days off of work, and I finally get one today, and I am BORED OUT OF MY MIND.

I mean, I had aforementioned lunch with Rich and Becky, and that was fun and exciting, but now I'm at home watching Pokemon with my 5-year-old sister and almost falling asleep. ALMOST.

UGH.

Could some of you Vassar peeps come and find me and save me? Like now? Take me back to Cali with you!!!!

;)

6.08.2008

Time Out

So I worked today from 11 to 5, and then had my sis's bday party at mah house from then till about 9... Fun times!

I have to next two days off from work, so I shall be seeing some of my most beloved high school friends! Sooooo excited!!!!!

How's your summer going so far? Comment!

6.03.2008

All Around, a Damn Good Day

Quick recap:

1. Worked 11 to 5 today; looked at our daily communication sheet (basically a newsletter) and saw my name on there twice, first for getting the most charge applications of anyone in the store yesterday (2 lol) and second for outstanding customer service (a customer mentioned my name in a survey).

2. I got a $5 gift certificate for my customer service award.

3. I got one of my coworkers, Shirley's hours for tomorrow: moneymoneymoneyMONAYYYY

4. I got all of the announcements for this year's Schiffhauer Family Picnic (which I am co-chairing with my cousin Cassie) printed up and sealed in their envelopes. This is the 20th annual, so we're doing some badass things for it....

5. BARACKFREAKINGOBAMA WON THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NOM! Hillary is still in the race for the time being... she wants the veep position... it should be interesting to see what Barack does...

6. Now, I go watch some more Heroes.
;)

THIS IS IT!

With two primaries left in the nominating process Barack Obama is TWELVE delegates away from the Democratic nom!!

Excited!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
XD

UPDATE 7:28: That has narrowed to TEN.

6.02.2008

+1 For the Team

My five-year-old (TODAY!) sister is running around the house singing "I Kissed a Girl." My parents are telling her to stop singing it hahahahahah

Hilarity ensues.

YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE

BEFORE SUMMER ENDS!

It's called Summer Storm... it's a teenage drama about dealing with sexuality in an anti-gay atmosphere, using competitive rowing as a backdrop. It's very engaging and, at least for me, at times heartwrenching. Netflix has it; that's where I got it from - you must check it out!

Trailer:

5.31.2008

WTF?! It's the last day of May ALREADY?!

DAYMN!

Friends

So I dunno about you, but it's a rough time for me trying to reconnect with my high school friends. The main prob is work. Everyone is working now. So if I'm off, someone else may not be, and the whole concept of hanging out goes to shit.

Of the high school friends I've reconnected with so far:

1. I've hung out with Amanda several times; she has the most flexible work/dance schedule. I'm indoctrinating her into the wonderful world of Harry Potter, and she LOVES it! Yay! (oh, btw, did you hear Rowling's writing an 800-word Potter prequel for charity?? Cool beans.)

2. I haven't been able to chill with Steph yet, but I did see her working at the brand-spanking-new Regal theater at my mall. She told me she can get me into movies for free! SCHWEETNESS!

3. Justine is always too busy to do anything. Last time I asked her to schedule "quality time with Nick" she told me she no longer schedules things and does them on-the-fly. I'm down with random hookups. ;)

4. Rich recently called me and I found out he's going out (?) with a girl I know from our HS! He promised that he would call me back (a cop was behind him) but he hasn't yet. I'm not holding my breath. However, we will be chilling in the near future. He told me I get to meet the girl (lucky me!) and then we can play BRAWL. Ok. Sounds good.

That's it for me... How have your attempts to reconnect with your HS friends gone??

MUAH!
nick.

5.30.2008

End of the Road (FINALLY!)

My second semester grades are:

200801 Spring 2008   Attempted units: 4.0    Earned units: 4.0    Term GPA: 3.67

ENGL 170   Intro to Literary Studies  :: A

  MATH 221   Linear Algebra :: B

PSYC 105   Intro to Psychology: A Survey :: A

Yay! 3.67!!
That's an increase from 3.32 last semester!

How did you do??

Bleeding Love

For you!

Hello my lovely friends!

I know, I know, you're thinking "Nick said he was taking the summer off from blogging!" This is true. But really, over the past eight months, I've come to know and love Vassar, and most of all YOU. Oh, and any other friends or people who drop by here, WELCOME!

I had been trying to brainstorm ideas as to how to keep in touch with you - to share with you what's been going on in my life - and I came up with a brilliant idea - a blog. Facebook is one thing - I'll correspond with you as much as I can on there, but here I can let my experiences be written down in one place for posterity. "Posterity" sounds grand, but to me it really means I can have some place to look back on the fabulous summer that will be '08!

And so, friends, consider yourself exclusive guests to this space of intrigue! To this space of mystery! To this space of sexiness! To this space of whatever the hell you want!

I plan to update this fairly often, hopefully at least once a day, so come here for a few minutes! Coming down the pipe is a new video for you, which will hopefully be made and internet-ready by Monday! I can't wait to hear from you! Comment as much as you can!

xoxo
nick.
